Vietnamese favourites – cooked all the way down to the bone

It sizzles and simmers at Vietstreet, where a rich and powerful pho is brewed day – and night – from kilos of beef bones. Vietnam’s national soup is served at Vietstreet in its classic form, with noodles, thinly sliced beef topside and fresh herbs.

The family-run stall also offers another Vietnamese favorite: the banh mi sandwich. It comes in traditional varieties with char siu pork and chicken (paté can be added) – as well as the house version with breaded shrimp. The baguettes are, of course, freshly baked, and the fillings are homemade.

Behind Vietstreet are husband and wife Hien and Chau, together with their son Du. The parents arrived in Denmark as Vietnamese boat refugees in 1980 and have since run several Vietnamese eateries, where Du has helped out since childhood. In other words, many years of experience and expertise lie behind the Vietnamese favourites the family now serves at Reffen.
